Faith

Last week was a tough week with many broken appointments. I was beginning to feel like nobody wanted to see us be it investigators or less active members. We have one family that we have been teaching for a couple of months who have been very excited to see us, especially the mother and the older daughter, and who have been very receptive to the gospel. They broke their prior appointment without notice. When we came to the door no one answered. After that and the other broken appointments, I was a little shell shocked. I kind of wanted to hide in our home. The day for the next appointment with this family approached and the sisters who are working with us wanted us to invite them to a baptism. I agonized quite a bit over this, fearing again an empty house and no one at the door. I decided I had to have more faith, so I prayed for it. When the hour arrived I put aside all of my doubts and arrived at the door early. Sara, the mother, answered and when I asked her if she wanted to go with us to see a baptism, she smiled and asked if we could wait a minute for her to change. I wanted to fly. While we were waiting for her I had the distinct impression that there was not a baptism where we had been invited to go. I was in the middle of calling the sisters when Sara and her oldest daughter Erendira came to the door ready to go. I decided to go despite the impression, but when we arrived at the chapel, no one was there but the two sisters who had invited us. They said that there was a baptism in the town of San Pedro a few miles away. Sara and Erendira said they were fine with going there, but again there was no one at the San Pedro chapel. We turned the car around to return home but before leaving I tried to call the sisters who we knew were working in this area. No answer. I started the car and was about to leave when they called, telling us that the baptism was at the upper chapel in San Pedro. I didn’t even know there was an upper chapel.

And it was incredible. Although the room was small with many people, members, whom we didn’t even know, made room for us and our investigators. The mission president and his wife came and they and everyone else treated Sara and Erendira like the very special people that they are. It turned into a wonderful experience for them. My wife and I marveled at how everything had worked together to get them to this baptism. Heavenly Father wanted them here.

After I dropped them off and while I was laying in bed, I had the distinct impression to read my scriptures. I am in the book of Jarom. This is the scripture that I found (in Spanish):

4  And there are many among us who have many revelations, for they are not all stiffnecked. And as many as are not stiffnecked and have faith, have communion with the Holy Spirit, which maketh manifest unto the children of men, according to their faith.

I felt this was a confirmation of my day of faith.
